Fair Haven

About

The founding of Fair Haven, New Jersey dates back to a structure built in 1816 at the Navesink River near today’s Fair Haven Road. By the mid-19th century, steamboats stopped at “Chandler’s Dock” on a route between Red Bank and New York City, bringing visitors to the area and local oysters to the city.  To this day, the charming riverside town shuttles many residents to and from New York City. Because of the water and city access, the area has become a premier destination for affluent residents.

Area

The population of Fair Haven registers at 5,937 across a total area of 1.7 square miles.  Sited on the southern shoreline of the Navesink River, it sits approximately 10 minutes from New York City ferries.  Because of this, it is a highly sought-after destination for well-to-do city commuters, and the median home value commands north of $700,000.  This, coupled with the close proximity to Red Bank and the beach, makes Fair Haven one of the most desirable towns in all of New Jersey.

More

Fair Haven is home to an exceptional school system, part of the Rumson-Fair Haven regional district.  Rumson-Fair Haven High School achieves year-after-year success both academically and athletically.  The total enrollment at the high school is just shy of 1,000.   The architecture of the area’s homes can be likened to that of the Hamptons, because of the traditional, country-shore styles.  The area hosts a strong index of upscale homes and professionals who do remarkable work on them.
