About
Aberdeen, New Jersey was settled by Lenni Lenape Native Americans as early as the year 1,000. Europeans then forced villagers westward. Because of the efforts of nine municipalities, Northern Monmouth County’s economy has a new life. This is due to emphasizing downtowns, residential neighborhoods, maritime history, embracing the Raritan Bay coastline.
Area
The township has a total area of 7.774 square miles, including 5.447 square miles of land and 2.327 square miles of water. It borders Hazlet, Holmdel, Keansburg, Keyport, Marlboro Township and Matawan in Monmouth County. It also borders Old Bridge Township in Middlesex County. The borough has a maritime border with Staten Island in New York City. As of the 2010 United States Census, there were 18,210 people in 6,876 households. Nearly 5,000 families call it home. It is located approximately 20 minutes away from Red Bank, 25 minutes from Long Branch and 30 minutes from Asbury Park.
