Manalapan

The name Manalapan is derived from a word in the Lenape language, meaning either “land of good bread”, “good land to settle upon” or “good bread”.  Manalapan was the site of The Battle of Monmouth (1778), when General George Washington attacked the rear of the British Army as they left Monmouth Court House (modern Freehold Borough).  Today, Manalapan is the quintessential family town, showcasing every variability of real estate imaginable.  From equine to agriculture, mega-mansions to rustic retreats, the 30-square mile township sits just outside both Monmouth and Ocean County’s finest amenities.
